The S.O. What! Literacy, Life Skills, and Character Education Curriculum Initiative
Thousands of youth have become stronger readers and learned to say, “SO WHAT!” to their challenges and pursue their dreams despite their obstacles, trauma, and any adversity they face through this unique, trauma-informed curriculum that combines academics and social and emotional learning.
The S.O. What! Foundation makes this curriculum and workbooks available to organizations that serve youth regardless of their ability to pay.
S.O. WHAT! LITERACY, LIFE SKILLS, AND CHARACTER EDUCATION CURRICULUM
You’ve done a great job building up your program and empowering your leaders to change the lives of the youth you serve. Yet you still find disengaged, unmotivated students, and maybe your reports show it. From high dropout and teen pregnancy rates to poor test scores and low literacy levels, your program could use the support of a unique literacy and life skills curriculum that can reverse that and help your students deal with life and prepare for and overcome the obstacles that keep them from succeeding.
Have you ever seen a single curriculum that:
Academic performance * standardized test scores * graduation rates * post-secondary attendance rates * social and emotional learning and expression
Bullying * discipline referrals * dropouts * teen pregnancy * the devastating impacts of ACE’s (adverse childhood experiences)?
A UNIQUE CURRICULUM TO GET YOUR STUDENTS READING AND READY FOR LIFE’S CHALLENGES
The S.O. What! Literacy, Life Skills and Character education curriculum uses the real-life story of former teen mother turned resilient, success story, Summer Owens, to help schools and youth programs empower students to achieve success regardless of their challenges.
Through workbooks, students explore their lives and their obstacles, examine their choices, and learn to eliminate the excuses that often hold them back. This ACE’s-informed curriculum gets to the core of students’ challenges to increase their interest in reading, knowing themselves, and achieving goals. The curriculum uses higher learning standards for English Language Arts to build literacy skills while teaching valuable life lessons and character traits to help students make good choices and create their own S.O. What! success stories.

S.O. WHAT! LITERACY, LIFE SKILLS, AND CHARACTER EDUCATION
WHICH S.O. WHAT! LITERACY AND LIFE SKILLS CURRICULUM DO YOU NEED FOR YOUR PROGRAM?
My passion is helping youth and young adults realize success no matter what obstacles they face. As an international resilience and leadership keynote speaker, author, S.O. What! Success Coach, and creator of the S.O. What! Literacy, Life Skills, and Character Education curriculum, I empower people to say, “So what!” to their challenges.
I provide a framework to help people see past their challenges and focus on solutions using the S.O. What! Success System (Overcome Obstacles + Eliminate Excuses + Calculate Choices = S.O. What! Success). Through keynotes, workshops, books, online courses, and workbooks, I use life’s challenges and my own story of resilience as a rape survivor and teen mom success story to help others confidently pursue their dreams.
Looking for an inspiring college motivational speaker? A high school literacy curriculum? A middle school life skills workbook? A great example for teen mothers? A women’s empowerment or single mother’s conference speaker?
I’m your girl and will help any audience say, “S.O. What!”.
Let’s talk! I’d love to share how the S.O. What! Literacy, Life Skills, and Character Education curriculum was implemented in one of the largest school districts in the country, and how you can use it too.
